Yes, of course!!! Breast milk is always the best way to go, but if you do use formula and breastmilk that is ok too, as long as you give her some breast milk. You can even mix the two, there is nothing wrong with that. I had trouble breastfeeding at first b/c my milk had not fully come in and my Dr gave me a tube to put in her mouth as she was breastfeeding to feed formula and breast milk at the same time until my milk came in. She even said that it was ok to mix the two there after in a bottle if necessary.

You can give them one then the other or both in the same bottle. I've been supplementing (breast milk and formula) since my daughter was in Nicu (8 mo ago now). I also had to use the Enfamil AR for the first few months. It didn't seem to be too heavy for her, but it didn't completely solve the problem either. Try holding her upright for 30 min after she eats to help minimize the throwing up. Keep at the pumping. I found it to be annoying but rewarding. =)

It's too early to be giving the baby formula. First, it is not good for your own breastmilk supply. Second- it's not good for her tummy which is used to digesting the much easier breastmilk than the formula.
Wait until your baby is AT LEAST 6 weeks old to introduce formula.
Is your baby latching on to the breast? Don't pump, nurse. You will have a healthier milk supply as the baby is much better at calling up more milk than the pump.
You can absolutely combine breastmilk and formula- but wait as stated and you will be more successful- and the baby will be happier.
Good luck!

It's fine to switch back and forth. You should talk to her dr. about the formula, I think she's too young to use the rice cereal, and the dr. may want to switch her to a soy based formula or a formula that is easier to digest. If she's having trouble with the breastmilk also, she may have a little reflux, in which case the dr. may put her on a medication to help with that. Good luck!

3 weeks is way too young for the rice cereal formula! Her system isn't ready for that yet. Try a soy-based formula instead of the milk-based one, it made a huge difference for my son. You can feed her breastmilk and formula, no problem there. If she continues to have problems with the formula please see your doctor. You don't want her to get dehydrated from vomitting.

I gave my son both formula and breast milk for until he was 8 weeks old. I had to do this because my milk production was slow. It really can't hurt the baby to give them both. If you are worried that the formula is too heavy ask her doctor.

I breast feed & formual feed my son, always have and he is 6 weeks old. Enfamil lipil w Iron is what I started him on and just switched it this week bc it makes him very gassy and his ummy hurts a lot. I am changing to goodstart! He has been doing A LOT better on it. Breast milk is the best and she will have less problems but make sure you watch what you eat bc thats what she will get and you can make her sick that way as well.

Breast Milk will be the best for her as it is the most digest able. Formula with Iron many times does not set well with some babies, upsets their tummy.
Yes you can give her both formula and breast milk.

my daughter was the same way when i was bottle feeding her ... she would throw up alot ... not a little it was alot ... it took me awhile until i found the right formula for her .... and on top of it she was collickie as well .... the formula that i finally ended up with was soy formula .... that was the only formula that her stomach could handle , cuz her stomach couldn't digest the normal formula ... it was like she had a sour stomach and it smelled as well .... so after the soy formula it all got better........ just give it time

All I did was bottle feed, but I am sure that you can do both. If it is any consolation ~ my daughter did the same thing and I had to change her formula many different times. I finally put her on carnation good Start and then Follow up. They were the best on her tummy. Good ~ Luck to you and your little one.
