You aren't giving enough information here...is your muffler stopped up?..Have you checked the air filter?..could be several things being the inteck..but, not enough information...how does it run when it's running?..I can tell you, that you sure may have run it low on oil..I don't personally care for the inteck ...kind of like the synchro-balanced engine that Briggs no longer carries...headache!...but, doesn't matter the frame..snapper is a brand name for a frame..and a cheap one now...sorry, but true..One thing you can do?..get your phone book out..look under gasoline engines, and you will see a listing of sales and service dealers in your area..call them..they will be happy to help you..most all small engine repair shop almost always have Brigg&Stratton Techs...be sure and have your model, type and code for them..these #'s are the look up #'s for any Briggs engine..but, they will help you...the #'s are around the engine, or on a plate near where the blower housing is....

Hard to tell - when mowers run a while they get hot- and being an aluminum engine, it expands. How is the oil level/ been changed lately? Try removing the flywheel cover and inspecting for rodent nests under it ( yes they like making homes in there). Try the new muffler as suggested. If the muffler is close to the carb- meybe its heat soaking - try a muffler that sits out from the engine a bit.

Does this engine have a choke? Some of the briggs with auto chokes start hard hot.

It isn't warm the proper terminology is it has overheated. If after a
tune-up it doesn't run continuously. You have two options have the motor re-built or just buy another one.You may find it difficult to let go especially if you and your machine has a history together.Kind of like losing a loved one.
