yes

You appear to have malware.

Get adaware, spybot, windows defender. All are free.
Install them.
Run them.
re-boot in safe mode.
run them again, and run ad/remove programs.

this very much depend on what you have just been doing!
and on what the file is called!. a lot of programs that update regularly will create a file in either the temp directory or the desktop, if you dont close the program thats doing it, it will keep doing it til the program it self closes. But as you have been told before, it could be a virus(not likely to work via the desktop, they like to stay hidden so you dont know any thing about it). run antivirus/antispware, if no results, use something like "hijackthis"(google for it), to see whats running at the time these files appear..............
there are sites you can send ''hijack this log files'' and people who will tell you if you are infected. hope this helps in some way..........

I had the same problem about a month ago. A folder named MP3 will always pop out. I have used all my anti-virus and anti-malaware and all antis you can imagine but it keeps popping out.

Now I discovered later that my default folder for downloading or ripping audios in Windows Media Player is desktop/MP3. So I opened WMP and click options and Rip Music and change the directory for my default folder.

It completely solved my problem. Now you can try this with your problem but its not a guarantee. Try also other programs you might have used that folder as a default.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if it's a virus or not, but I had a similar problem with my laptop which I only used as a work thing, no funny business on it. I kept getting a window or two pop-up when I started it, empty folder pages, I think they were leftovers from old programs-windows programs that I had deleted. Anyway,,,the way I got rid of them was...I downloaded "crap cleaner" yup,,that's the name! do a simple on line search for it, it's totally free and will rid your computer of leftover remnants of programs you have gotten rid of. another good free program you can download is "ad-aware se" for spy-ware. Hope this is a help to you

Click on this folder, and see whats in there, If it is empty, drag it to the trash.
If there is something in there and you aren't sure what it is open Documents, and drag it there and it won't open on your desktop.
It sounds like you have downloaded a program from somewhere and this is where they will always download to and then you need to open that folder and double click the Install or executable file to download it.
Again, if you don't want it trash it.

you have what is known as "malware". Download a good anti-spy/anti-malware program if you do not have one.
Example: Ad-aware SE personal. or Windows Defender. They both work well on my system. Load then update each one, then scrub / scan your system.
Keep these progs up to date and regularly scan your system.
(All these progs ARE free to you)
Good Luck
