nope, my guppies do wonderful w/o it. they have had 2 batches of babies since i got them and i have not had any problems

It sounds like it's not absolutely necessary, but it might help avoid certain diseases and such. This website addresses the issue. You don't need much, so a good size package of aquarium salt would last for a while.

they don't need it. I think they have less babies without it though.

Its cheap and hard to screw up. I just take handfulls & throw them in when I change the water. No measuring or anything. I used to keep a saline testing kit & measure it to precicely 0.08% & then i realized how much I had to throw in the tank to really make a difference. A little too much or a little too little will not have a great effect.

The older they are, the more they'll appreciate it tough. Guppies come from the streams in Trinidad where they finger out & mix with ocean water a little bit.

You don't abolutely NEED it. But it is helpful sometimes because it adds electrolytes to the water and other things.

Why not try it? I got a 16 oz. box of aquarium salt for $1.50 at petsmart. It works for almost all freshwater fish.

no you dont have to. aquarium salt is recomended for guppies so they look better adn are more healthier.

You don't HAVE to have it, but it would be a good thing to have handy in case a disease breaks loose, and you could remedy them with salt.

no u dont but some say it makes them more colourfull but i say skrew them.... buy coloure enhancing food its cheep and works soooooooo good.......i caught a swordtail and started feeding it this food and now he is as coulerful as the guppys u buy at the shop...u no the rainbow ones

simple question, simple answer. It is not necessary. It might be a good idea but not necessary.
