I believe you can choose at 12. But remember ultimately, it's up to the judge. It depends on a number of things like the maturity of the child and which parent would be more involved in the child's activities just to name a few.

Hard choice for a 13 year old, right?
My parents divorced and I lived with my mom. They tried to work things out years later when I was 12 years old, but my father would not give up his alcohol. My mom asked me if I wanted to stay at dad's or live with her...I chose my mom, ofcourse. I have no regrets....
Only you know your situation and your parents. I hope you make the right decision, choosing the parent who will raise you into being the best person that you can be.
Best wishes...be happy no matter what. =)

If the divorce is final, then one of your parents needs to file for a remodification hearing for child custody and then petition the Judge to let you decide or voice your opinion on to which parent you want to live with it. If the Judge accepts the petition,he willtake you into his chambers and ask you some questions and if he likes your answers then he will let you voice your request and barring no legal problems or objections from neither parent youll get your wish

i think you could actually do it now. you need to talk to the person you want to live with and have them take you to court and you will have to speak with a judge and they'll ask you sutff and just answer everything and by the end. the person you want will sign papers and thats it.
but the person has to be a parent or something.
you can just choose to live with a boyfriend or something until you are 18. but hopefully that wasnt your question

I;m sorry your parents are divorced, although I'm not sure how old you ahve to be, but I do believe you can ask the judge to see him alone the next time everyone go to see him. you can ask to be with the parent you wanna be with. you will probably want to give reasons why.

in Wa state you can be as young as 6 to stay with who ou want. If there is a parent you want to stay with more you need to voice your opinion to that parent and they can talk to a laywer. Most of the times a child will stay with the mom..unless the child says something. If you want to stay with mom let her know but if you want to stay with dad let him know also. Becuase you prob will end up with mom. Unless they can prove mom is clearly unstable...then you will end up with her. But please make your opinion known! This divorce effects you, not just the parents and you have every right to speak up

The age is 12 but you get to speach your opinion but its not an official choice. The judge will still make the choice for you.
