I'm 34 weeks pregnant and was thinking about birth control after the birth of my 2nd child. I have a girl, another girl on the way. I want to try one more time cause I like boys as well. I'd like to have an IUD and remove it after 2 years if I dont chance my mine. I check my insurance they not gonna cover it. Does Anyone know how much it cost to put and to remove.

I was going to get it a few years ago but then we changed insurance and it wasn't covered. But Mirena was, if I can remember was $500. Don't know how much to remove.

IUD's can cause future fertility problems and also increase your risk of an ectopic pregnancy which is painful and dangerous.

Have you considered natural methods of birth control like NFP? As a plus, this method helps you stay in tune with your fertility and cycles and can alert you to any possible problems, and also maximize your conception chances when you feel you are ready for the next baby.

NFP is also free and has no side effects. No other birth control method has such a great track record.

Please, whatever you do, do not use an IUD. What an IUD does is scrape the lining of your uterus so that when you ovulate there is nothing for the egg to catch on, so it passes out of you. The problem is that once your lining is destroyed it usually takes years to regrow, if at all. Many women have become barren after using IUDs. If you insist on using birth control, I urge you to use a different method for your general well-being.
