I can't tell whether you mean
(1/5)x + 3 = 9, or
1/(5x) + 3 = 9, or
1/(5x + 3) = 9

Everybody here just assumed you meant the first one, but depending on which equation it really is, your answer will be different. This is why it's important to use parentheses to write out the exact expression.

Its very easy!

1/5x + 3 = 9

transfer 3 next to 9 and remember whenever you transfer numbers and there is an equal sign, it will be multiplied by -1

So,
1/5x = 9 - 3
1/5x = 6

Divide the equation by 1/5x to remove the fraction from the variable x...

(1/5x = 6) / (1/5)
x=30

Thus, the answer is 30!

Good luck!

1/5x = 6 (subtracting 6 from both sides)
cross multiplying , u get 30x =1
x = 1/ 30

PS i dont know how all the people who answered before me got 30 as the answer. Just try putting it into the question , it becomes
1/30(5) + 3 = 0
1/ 150 + 3 =9 , sounds ridiculous.

ok first you minus the 3 then this will leave you with 1/5x = 6 (because your minusin 3 from both sides) then because 1/5 basically = a fifth you times this by 5 which then 1 the equation now looks like this equals 1x = 30 or x = 30

Multiply both side of the equation by 5 to make 1X or X on the left side. Then subtract the constant (now 3 x 5 = 15) from both sides:

5 x (1/5 X + 3 ) = 5 x 9

X + 15 = 45

X + 15 - 15 = 45 - 15

X = 30

First, you isolate the variable.

1/5x + 3 = 9
- 3 -3
1/5x = 6

Then, you take away the number in front of the variable.

1/5x = 6
x5 x5
x = 30
