this trailer played during the previews for transformers and it shows group of friends at a going away party and then the lights go out and they run to the streets where the head of the statue of liberty comes falling to the ground. Looks to be a sci-fi...does anyone know the name?

the name is not known yet. It is a top secret project from J.J. Abrams. It is a science fiction film produced by J. J. Abrams, directed by Matt Reeves, and written by Drew Goddard. It is known by the codename "Cloverfield" or "1-18-08" because that is the date of its release on January 18th of next year.

Some people are simply calling it 1.18.08 or like a previous answer Cloverfield, but no official name has been given.
