Ok, so theres only one or two roosters to every bunch of hens...so what happens to the other males? are the killed early? or castrated? I've never heard of chicken castration so that seems odd. can someone tell me what the fate of a male chicken is? , because it is really bothering me. Thanks!

most roosters are sent to the butcher block. thr term for castration in a rooster is a capon. it is done by inserting a slim metal rod thru the backabout 3" up from the tail, the testies are pulled out and snipped off, the bird is then fattened for slaughter.

well when i got my chickens we had ten girl rhode island reds and so we got two roosters thinking that it would be okay and that we would soon se a couple of cute little chicks running around but then one of the males killed the other one so basically its natures law the biggest strongest one will "survive" and the weakest one will not its a good way of not passing down the weak genes so that only stronger animals exist and not wimpy weak animals although it did make me feel bad because i named the rooster that died foghorn and i actually got attatched to him but anyway i think if they are separated they will be fine but if they arent then only have one rooster he may not mate with all the chickens but you wont have five other dead roosters either. i dont know if there is a such thing as chicken neutering but i wouldnt try it : P. so from what you said you have one rooster for every small group of hens thats fine as long as the other roosters dont get together and if they have any baby roosters try to sell them or something. i hope i helped and good luck.

Unfortunately they usually end in the cooking pot.
