No one has definitively determined that the U.S. involvement in Iraq has been a failure. Initial goals set by the U.S. government: the President, Congress, etc., may not have been achieved; but, goals are ever changing and the methods of achieving those goals are always changing.
Abraham Lincoln's goal for maintaining the Union never faltered; but, his method's for sustaining the sovereignty of the Union were subject to daily changes.
Stabilization of Iraq is essential to world peace, and every world power is aware of this. China, Japan, Russia, Britain, know the impact a Middle East impasse will have upon their economic and political stability. Unfortunately, these countries have placed the onus of "solving the dilemma" on the United States.
The next President of the United States will inherit Iraq.

You say, Why does bush continue the war in Iraq, despite it being a failure?
According to the New Osama tape, Bush must be doing something right, Osama wants US out, like the Dems do. Must not be much of a failure, looks like old OSAMA has crawled out of the rocks. LOL apparently he cannot do nothing while US troops are there, lol. Failure..... you are so wrong.
Qaida Makes New 9/11 Threat
An American member of al-Qaida warned President Bush on Tuesday to end U.S. involvement in all Muslim lands or face an attack worse than the Sept. 11 suicide assault, according to a new videotape.
Wearing a white robe and a turban, Adam Yehiye Gadahn, who also goes by the name Azzam al-Amriki, said al-Qaida would not negotiate on its demands.
"Your failure to heed our demands ... means that you and your people will ... experience things which will make you forget all about the horrors of September 11th, Afghanistan and Iraq and Virginia Tech," he said in the seven-minute video.
Gadahn, who has been charged in a U.S. treason indictment with aiding al-Qaida, spoke in English and the video carried Arabic subtitles. The video appeared on a Web site often used by Islamic militants and carried the logo of al-Qaida's media wing, as-Sahab.
Gadahn, who appeared in an al-Qaida video last September in which he called on Americans to convert to Islam, demanded that Bush remove all U.S. military and spies from Islamic countries, free all Muslims from U.S. prisons and end support for Israel. He said a withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq alone would not satisfy al-Qaida.
Ben Venzke at IntelCenter, a U.S. government contractor that monitors al-Qaida messages, said the group likely did not believe any of its demands would be met.

The reason why that the Iraq war is a failure AT THE MOMENT, is because of the political correctness that has infested our military and war effort.
We must remove the ridiculous rules of engagements from our troops, kick the media out, and worry/ concentrate about fighting a real war, and not about the feelings of every single Muslim.
Sounds too harsh? Too bad.
If this kind of insanity had existed while we were fighting WW2, we would've lost for sure. In fact, you'd be speaking German right now.
Also why I mentioned that we should kick the media out, is because most of them (mainly the liberal news outlets) are portraying our troops in a bad way.

Why stop, the war is going so well. Another half trillion dollars and maybe 4000 more US fatalities in Iraq should finish the job.

HAVE YOU ASKED OUT TROOPS IF THE WAR IN IRAQ IS A FAILURE?
IF YOU LISTEN TO THE LIBERALS THEN YOU CAN HEAR ANYTHING.
IF PRESIDENT CLINTON WOULD HAVE CAPTURED AND KILLED USAMA BIN LADEN WHEN HE HAD A CHANCE WE WOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO GO TO WAR.WE WOULD HAVE NEVER HAD 9-11.
IF PRESIDENT BUSH SR. WOULD HAVE GONE ON IN TO IRAQ DURING DESERT STORM THEN WE WOULDNT HAVE HAD TO GO IN NOW.HE HAD A CHANCE TO GET SADDAM THEN. ASK GENERAL SCHWARKOFF.
DID YOU KNOW CONGRESS WHICH INCLUDED HILLARY CLINTON, REID, NANCY PELOSI, JOE BIDEN, MADELINE ALBRIGHT, HOWARD DEAN, AND MANY OTHERS INCLUDING PRES CLINTON INSISTED WE MUST GO IN TO IRAQ?? IF PRESIDENT CLINTON WOULD HAVE DONE HIS JOB PRESIDENT BUSH WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THIS MESS TO TAKE CARE OF.
PLEASE ASK THE TROOPS IF WE SHOULD BE THERE BEFORE YOU CRITICIZE THEM AND PRESIDENT BUSH.
THEY ARE DOING THEIR JOB. THEY VOLUNTEERED TO DO IT.

Because he had the support of the Democrats to go to war and now he needs the support of Democrats to end the war, which he does not have. He doesn't want to be a tyrant about things or take all the blame.

Because the Bin Laden Family (Saudi Royal Family) told Dick Chaney last year that if the Shiites win in Iraq that the Bin Laden Family will "Leak" evidence against Chaney and Bush that will get them set to prison for life.
That's why Bush is fighting like a madman, He's fighting for his freedom from prison.
