My wife and I have really struggled with raising our son as we both have retail jobs. Also I have a ton of student loans to boot.
You could possibly sell Mary Kay or Avon. Maybe even pick up a paper route maybe open your own child care place. Don't fall for those late night get rich quick schemes as you will lose quite a bit of money.
I don't know what is available in your area but I am sure that if you seek you shall find extra income.

HERE is the ultimate answer: While your staying home with your new baby, why not take in 2 other little babies during the day while their moms go to work. You'll be trustworthy since you have a little one, plus you'll be doing a good deed. In home childcare is so much cheaper than taking the babies to a nursery, and in my opinion, a lot safer since you are dealing with a mother who has 3, not 30 kids to worry about.
my brother & sister in law had their 6 week old in a wonderful mothers home and it was 1/3 of the cost of day care, plus it allowed the mom to stay home, watching the kids & still making some $$.
I plan on going this route with my baby too! I fondly remember the lady who watched us from 3 months till 3 years when my ma went back to work.
Some places will probably require certification...although I guess you could do it under the table- I think that happens quite a bit- like more formal baby sitting....
Good Luck!!

Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to this question. I was a single mom for three years, but wanted to stay home with my baby (and I did), but it was hard making money. I watched other people's children in my home, worked at a child center where I could bring my son with, and even briefly did some typing work at home. But none of these were good solutions. Raising your own kids is a full time job and doing anything else on top of it will only burn you out. I'm no longer a single mom, but things are still tough financially. We have another one on the way and I'm not working, but it is do-able. You just have to prioritze. My son wears hand-me downs and we buy him birthday presents from Dollar Tree and Walmart, but the greatest gift I'm giving him is being there. That's worth more than any money or "cushy" lifestyle.

Hi.I would stay home with the baby.Think of all the bonding and firsts you will needlessly miss.Check out Dave Ramsey online at daveramsey.com .He talks about how to get out of debt.He has a great system. It could help you with a budget so your finances won't make you worry so much.He has a couple of books but I can only remember "The total money makeover" and "Financial Peace".He also endorses a book called "48 days to the work you love" by Dan Miller.Good Luck and Congrats.

Make and sell on ebay, or just buy and sell on ebay. Take in a child during the day. Theres tons ot things. Iam a SAHM and I make a few hundred a week doing things like that.
Its not worth it for money, or for the sake of the baby to return to work while raising a child. Its a full time job, and then some. Whatever you could possibly make in money you'd be losing so much more in quality of life for your baby. They need mom until theyre in school, thats just all there is to it.

If you don't mind it, you can get help from the DHS. You can get help with partial child care, or they will pay for all of it, depending on your income. I have had it, and I worked at a Day Care where most of the parents were recieving help so that they could work and go to school. Its easy to set up, and if you meet the guidelines it may be very helpful to you.

Instead of giving her money, give her what you'd hope she'd buy with the money. Offer to do her shopping for her. Then, only buy what you both agree on. You might wish to add a little 'discretionary' allowance, or something, so she still has some freedom.

my husband are in the same position. not rich enough for daycare... not poor enough for welfare. i work days and he works nights; we spend as much time as possible together on our off days. we make it a priority to save money. lots of coupon clipping. i do mypoints.com- it rewards you with giftcards for taking surveys, reading emails, signing up with their partners, and purchasing items online that i would anyway. i also list items we no longer need on craigslist.com. it's like an online garage sale. you meet with people locally to sell things.
