my daughter just turned 12 months (yea!) and i'm running out of things to feed her. she's at a weird stage right now, not quite ready for all solids, and yet she wants more than just mush. She HATES the gerber pasta pick ups (can you blame her? have you tried them? ew), but she likes the pasta rings and the potato sides...and she eats canned peaches, whole banannas, yogurt, soft cut up chicken or beef, soft cooked veggies....stuff like that. But I don't cook that stuff everyday. And what about breakfast and lunch? SHe eats yo-baby yogurt or "cinnamon granola" jar everyday for breakfast....I'd just like to change things up and maybe let her explore more...thanks. Oh, and she's no-lactose, so no cheese or milk ideas please. Thanks :)

she has a really sensitive gag reflex, and when she gags, she vomits everytime. so her doc said to introduce solids slowly....

well, as a mother of 3 I had a time finding things they liked to eat. Each one of my children ate totally different and even now they are 8,9 and 13 they still like different things...
when my children were babies for breakfast I bought the oatmeal variety pack and gave them a new flavor each morning, I made them a pancake every now and again with a tiny bit of jelly, jam or syrup (just small bites) Of course my children were born in the deep south were biscuits and gravy is a food fed to babies as early as 6 months, but that is very high in fat... but a new food. for lunch and supper, they were eating whatever I ate, as long as it wasn't spicy or it wouldn't tear up their tummies. Remember that meat isn't usually a childs favorite thing until they are around 18 months to 3 years old, I think it is the texture. I did however give my children speg. and sometimes a happy meal with chicken nuggets. but you want to incorportate those veggies and fruit. as long as she likes certain foods, let her eat them, give her a bite of foods you eat, it usually takes a child 3 times to try something before they like it or she could be like my son and eat everything you put in front of her. As far as snacks walmart carries the lactose free puddings, ice creams and cream deserts, they are really good and don't hurt the tummy, my last daughter had acid reflux and it was hard to find her foods (dairy products) that didn't hurt the tummy.

My 1 yr old doesn't like the Pasta Pick ups either, Ewww! Um, she actually seems to have a great appetite. My son will eat cut up pancakes, toast, dry cereal or fruit for breakfast. He loves chicken, turkey, bologna, pb and j, pasta, veggies and more fruit for lunch or dinner. Just remember, the average try for a new food is 7 times before you call it quits. I just learned that :) She sounds like she eats healthy which is great!

Why cant she just eat small portions of what you're eating each meal? She doesnt need special foods cooked just for her. And why can she have solids? My 7 month old eats well cooked frozen veggies like a pro, and he only has two font teeth that are barely in.

He also snacks on small bits of whatever Iam eating, and then cheerios and gerber puffs.

Its not worth it to cook her special meals, just make a meal for both of you and give her small well cooked pieces of whatever you're having. Theres no reason she cant have it.

My son is at the same stage and I have the exact same question! Our children eat pretty much the same diet so that makes me feel a lot better. Sounds like you are doing okay too. I feel like the baby food isn't enough but there isn't much "real" food that he can eat.
