It's a mud dauber nest. They are harmless, docile, and very beneficial wasp that rarely sting. You'd have to put you hand on it and leave it there to get stung. Also, a mud daubers favorite food are spiders. I've accidently touched them on several occasions and all they did was buzz their wings. As for the spiders, I'm not sure about the transparent one, I'll have to look that up, but the second sounds like an orb weaver. Both spiders are harmless and a special word for the orb weaver: Orb weavers are also very beneficial and good for the garden.

Spiny Orb weaver Pics: They come in many shapes, sizes and colors so even if you don't see a green one here you should be able to tell if it was a spiny orb weaver.

hi mark600601,i dont know the spiders but i can tell you about the (wasps).they are mud daubers, they do sting, but they dont have the temperment of a wasp.there nest building involves gathering up mud from ditch banks, stream banks where ever they can find it.they fill there mouth with mud and take to there selected nest site and shape it while its still wet.once the nest is dry they will lay there larve inside and tend the nest until they are adultsi hope i have answered at least one of your queastions, have a good nite.

the wasp nest you knocked down was built by what is called a "mud dauber wasp" they have a horrible sting...the spider could be a brown recluse and very dangerous if you get bit...best to leave spiders alone if you can't kill them...i don't know what the black spiked green shelled one could be...sounds more like a beetle of some type...i can't find any reference to it in my insect guide...
