WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN IN THE FIRST CHAPTER OF A COMIC?a?

Question

I'm trying to make manga and I want to know what should happen in the very first chapter? Should it be just about the main character and introduce the world he lives in? How many pages are good for a manga chapter?

BTW it's an action/scifi/comedy :)

Or another technique I've enjoyed is just jumping right into the middle of the action like we've been with you for a while . . . and then fill in the background with flashback or appendix type information. One particular series I read did this, and kept referring to the ancient texts as a motivation - these were added in later in the series as an appendix. Another way was the character would find different histories and they were. This might be a bit more work - just an idea.

Well, on the first few pages you should have something that would grab the readers attention before they set it back down. Like a fight or jumping right into the main conflict, because then the reader will be asking questions like "Why are they fighting?" and they will read further on to fulfill their curiosity.
Also, you want to make sure you get at least the main character introduced (yes I know, a "duh" factor..but I said it anyway). You don't have to get all the characters introduced at first but just the few most important ones.
Try to drop hints on something big that will be coming up in the later chapters to keep the readers interested and wanting to find out what the "something big" is.
Also, lastly try to establish the setting (time, place, etc.) and get the story line going.

Most importantly make sure to have fun, because if you do, the readers will be able to tell and they will enjoy reading it as well.
