Yes, valve cover gasket. Very easy to fix on this engine. You will need a set of metric sockets. Keep track of everything you remove and where it goes.

Buy a new gasket and make sure it comes with with new spark plug hole gaskets. You will also need a tube of RTV sealant and a spray can of brake cleaner.

Remove the valve cover and the old gasket. Then spray the cover with brake cleaner to remove the oil. Dry it and place the gasket in the grooves on the cover. Apply RTV sealant to the sharp corners where the valve cover gasket meets the camshaft. You will probably see old RTV there--remove that first.

Apply the valve cover and the new stud seals. Screw on the acorn nuts.

Remove the valve cover and scrape off the old gasket and wire brush clean. Make sure the surfaces are straight and not pinched downward around the bolt holes. You may have to use a small hammer and a piece of steel or wood on a vice to straighten the cover. Spray the gasket surface with any brand of brake-clean. Be sure the gasket surface on the cylinder head is clean and bone dry. Here's a little racing trick to make the covers seal well and and allow you to remove it / them when ever you want. Go to NAPA, Car Quest or Auto Zone and pick up a tube of RTV Silicone High Temp Gasket Maker. Run a a small bead .090 or less of this sealant all around the valve cover. Place the gasket on the cover and gently press the gasket all the way around the edge. Let it dry for half an hour. Spread another small bead on top of the gasket and place the valve cover on the cylinder head. Snug it up. *Do not over tighten as this will crush the gasket and bend the valve cover. immediately and you'll be leak free.

Go for it! Make sure you remove all the interfering parts first, and don't forget to hook everything back up exactly as it is now. You should be able to lift the cover straight up and out of the way. HAve a can of spray brake cleaner handy to clean any sludge out of the cover, and make sure the old gasket is completely removed and the slot it fits in cleaned out before you install the new one. While it's off, stick a rag in the holes around the plugs and soak up as much accumulated oil as you can. Be careful you don't drop any dirt in it or scratch the cam lobes while the cover is off.

Good luck!

its very easy and cheap. if you can buy the chiltons manuel. if not just pull off the valve and put a new gasket on. just make sure you don't over tighten the bolts when reinstalling the cover. some use high temp silicone to make sure there is a good seal.

It depends very much on the model and the engine in it. The source has prices on most models. Definitely cheaper to do yourself and not a hard job on most engines... but I wrestled with a cover on my 1984 Nissan 300ZX for an hour, taking off brackets and such to get it clear. I looked up labor for a Lincoln recently and it was $300-$400 labor!
