1. Not usually. Football players don't really sign much but it depends on the player and/or team
2. Its ok but college is better
3. No. Unless you see them at like the pre game pep rally/tail gate.

To answer question #2, it depends on where you're sitting.
When I first started going to Chargers games about 12 years ago, my wife worked for Lance Alworth at a real estate development company he had here in San Diego. Lance had about 16 season tickets in the plaza section (just above field level) on the home side between the 35 yard lines. He had one pair of seats about 4 rows up right on the 50.
Each week the Chargers were at home, either my wife would come home with a pair of tickets (perks for working there), or we would get a phone call Saturday or Sunday morning instructing us to go to a house in Del Mar and get the tickets out of the mailbox that was shaped like a marlin (Lance was big into deep-sea fishing).
That was the year the Chargers went to the Super Bowl and got anihilated by the 49ers. But, it was a great time. We got to use those 50-yard-line seats a couple times, too. It was awesome.
A few years later, when my wife changed jobs, I got ahold of some season seats from a friend of mine who was going to get rid of them if no one would buy them from him. They were on the 30-yard-line in the plaza section, but on the visiting side (staring into the afternoon sun all the time). And each game we were surrounded by fans of the visiting team. I asked a couple girls sitting behind us where they got their tickets, and they said that their husbands were players for the other team and they belong to the agent.
As the Chargers entered the Ryan Leaf years, my wife and I began to really loathe going to the games. The hostile fans would heckle the Chargers fans, telling us the Chargers sucked. And, they were right. The Chargers did suck.
After the 1-and-15 season several years ago, my wife and I stopped buying the tickets. And, with the $1,000 we saved saved over the next two seasons, we bought a 42-inch Sony HDTV and got the digital HD package from the cable company.
Now, I don't care if I ever go to a live football game again. I can watch all the games all Sunday from our leather reclining stadium seats, I can pause the game or rewind any play I want to see again, and I don't ever again have to deal with some dizzy chick from San Francisco dumping a beer down my back during the first quarter. And, I save $1000 a year in the process.

1. Before the game is your best chance. Go to the stadium early before the game . The teams will be practicing on the feild. As the players randomly go in and out of locker room you can get autographs. You will see where everyone is hanging out leaning over into the stadium asking for autographs. Bring several pens incase you lose some. Also bring string in your pocket. When u get there tie the string to your paper and pen or whatever u want signed and lower it down to the players if u can.
Use seperate paper for each autograph if you can. Value of autographs are worth more when its the only signature.
2. If you have good seats and the weather is good then its a great time. You have to pay attention and figure out whats going on cause theres no commentators like on tv telling you the details. Its the tailgating experience that i also enjoy. I stil say nothing beats watching it on tv.
3. No you will not get to meet the cheerleaders at a game.

1. Do fans get autographs from their favorite athletes (from home or visiting teams) before or after the game?
sometimes one or the other, you may wanna check, alot of times they will sell the 'x weeks home game tickets' with a 1 days special signing, or after a game.. really differ team to team.
2. What is it like to watch a LIVE football game?
Live sports, for a sport fanatic, it gets NO better.. even the very highest, cheapest spot is still a thrill.
3. Do fans get to meet the cheerleaders?
This to depend on team, and tickets/promo package bought.

In most cases you won't get autographs or meet the cheerleaders. There are 60,000 people at some games (at least, at Raiders') and the only people who get close enough for that have field passes.
Live games are exciting. The roar of the crowd, the announcer, the lights, the greenness of the field. I love it!
The only drawback is that you don't get to see the replays if they're controversial.
Have fun if you go~

I can only answer the second one for you. I came in late to my first live game so that sucked. It's pretty cool seeing it live, but I like it better with the commentaries on live t.v. though. You don't get to see the play by play analysis done by the sport casters. But anywho, I'm going to the Dallas Cowboys VS The Giants this Sunday, I'm so excited!!! Go Cowboys!!

Live Football games are AWESOME. Your first one especially. The only problem is tickets, dont think you can just buy single game tickets because (at least where I live) NFL tickets are almost impossible to get. Just make sure you go to see your favorite team or else it isnt as good.
