A little corny, perhaps. I prefer Stravinsky's take on Ravel -- the "swiss watchmaker" comment. Incredible attention to detail, and so intricate. Amazing stuff.

totally agree ... so then Ravel would be a Monet or Manet .... would Bach then be like a Mondrian screen saver and Beethoven like a David .... Vivaldi like a Michelangelo (Sistine Chapel comes to mind)

I'm sorry to say this, but I don't like his music at all, I'm a Bach person, I don't like orchestra music, I like concertos, or solos like the music of, Vivaldi, Bach, Beethoven, and Boccherini done on strings, classical guitar, violin, cello, etc. Sorry !

Only surpassed by Debussy's Impressionistic masterpieces (yes, I know he hated that classification - but it works for me).
