I want to drop my honda civic a few inches but im not sure on how to approach the situation. I looked on ebay and lowering coil springs were being sold but im unsure if thats all thats needed. I've also heard of "struts" and I dont know if thats whats also needed. PLEASE HELP

Here is one of the ebay website that I looked at. Will these springs get the job done???

It depends. If you want to just lower your car as cheaply as possible then yes, those springs will do it, but it will handle worse and ride horribly. If it were me I'd save up and buy a decnt middle of the road priced set of coil-overs. I've seen height adjustable coil overs for about 800 bucks. They will make your car handle MUCH better.

Special lowering springs have higher spring rates per inch of spring travel. It's *extremely important* to upgrade your struts. Stiffer springs store more compression and rebound energy causing the suspension / car to bounce unusually.

The standard struts are valved and designed for softer forgiving spring rates. Improved struts should be on your list. KYB, Bilstein, Koni and Tokico are great brands that have "half a chance" to control your new bouncy ride.

High rate springs demand a strut brace in your engine compartment to reduce uni-body flex and twist. You'll need strut plates to reset the camber when you get it aligned. It's going to be a time consuming job to fit these plates on top of the strut towers to try to align the suspension again.

At the end of my story I guaranty you will do this only once in your life. Kiss the ride good-by. You're in for a jarring experience.

If you simply want your car to handle better around corners, go for larger diameter anti-roll bars front and rear. The straight ahead ride will not be affected. Forget hub spacers as they bring early death to wheel bearings and lower ball joints.

Yes, drop springs will work well.... install drop springs in the front and back.... 2 inches wont be a problem, just the springs will do it. For struts, they are the shocks.... you wont need to replace the ones you have now, you can use them for a 2 inch drop. So go get the springs and have fun.

Good idea. Then you will be able to pick lettuce, etc. without getting out of your car. Not to mention running over cans, sewer lids in the middle of a street. Scrape away, kid.
