I seriously doubt that at age 18 you are entitled to any kind of Social Security Benefits on your own. Have you worked TEN years already? Do not think so.

If you are getting the SS check because of your mother or father being disabled it will only keep coming until you are 18 or out of high school whichever c........

Obviously You are the idiot after all "Dave" and no i have not worked 10 years yet . But at 19 and 1/2 , NOT 18 , i have worked FOR THE SAME PLACE , for over 7 , and i go to school , and i AM in fact recieving SSI for Bipolar and Anxiety Disorder, It IS my money and bcus of substance abuse history i was deemed unable to handle it before but after 30 days of being clean they said i would have ben all set so ive got it all in my name now and it still is MY money ( just to show how wrong this person is who's talking like they know everything )

If you are over 18,the checks should be coming in your name unless you have been deemed unable to handle your own finances. I don't know the reason you are getting SS,but if it is for a medical condition that they believe you need assistance with financial matters, that might be the reason. Only way to find out is to contact SS and ask them.

If you are getting the SS check because of your mother or father being disabled it will only keep coming until you are 18 or out of high school whichever comes later. That is because they are getting the check to support you as their minor dependent. It is not so you get pocket money. Once you are old enough to work, you get no more benefits, even if you still live at home.

It is not YOUR money because you did not earn it. If you go claim that you are not a dependent and you want to be emancipated, you lose the benefit.

Best advice. Shut up, go to school and graduate. And if your parents give you any of the money, it is gift from them, not an entitlement from the government.

Go talk to SS and see how you get her name off your checks now that you're 18.

If there is no legal reason your Social Security check must be signed by your mother, go to your local Social Security office and talk to one of their representatives.

It's as simple as you have to file for it yourself at the SS office.
