This month i am late again , rent was due on the 4th i got my 3 day notice and i asked if i can pay in full my rent along with late fees on the 12th, and the owner told me i can pay my rent on the 12th along with an additional 1000 deposit , and if i dont have it i have to find another place to live. can she do that..i mean i was gonna pay my rent and i paid a large deposit when i moved here 2years ago.

Not if it is not stated in your lease that an additional deposit can be required for habitual late rent. She can however evict you on the 7th if rent is not paid. I would contact your local tenant services for free legal advice. If this is not a clause in your lease what she is doing is very illegal and would be considered almost blackmail. You need to get legal advice that would be appropriate for your state. good luck

Sunshine, you can hardly blame them. It's a business they can't carry you just because you are having a hard time. If you need to get government assistance, then go do that. But you are not helping yourself this way. The landlord can report to the credit bureau that you are consistently late and it will make it difficult to rent some place else. So call the city tomorrow and see if they have a program that will assist you while you need it. If this is going to be a long term issue for you, then maybe you should consider disability payments and file for them.

Yes, she can, unless state law limits the deposit and you've already paid that much in.

You have been repeatedly late with your rent. As such, she can have you evicted whether you have a lease or not. Your choice now is pretty much limited to being evicted or paying the additional deposit.

She can do whatever she wants if you're renting on a month to month basis, sorry :(
If you have a lease, she can't do things quite like she did.
I'd find a new place to live - why fight with someone who doesn't want you there? Your life will just get miserable. Good news - I guess you don't have to pay your rent, your deposit should more than cover it. You'll just have to use that money for a deposit on a new place.
Check out craigslist - they have a lot of good deals on houses for rent.
