Well, if you're happily celibate, good for you.
I have had brief periods of celibacy in my life...as I chose to be with quality lovers or none at all.
But your screen name indicates that you have issues with men. That I wouldn't be content with. If you've been hurt in the past...just be more careful and wise in the future, but don't swear off men just b/c of a bad experience or two....
there are plenty of wonderful men out there...keep an open mind.

I was celibate for a year and half ...I was too much into my ex to develop anything new with anyone, so celibacy was the best option for me. I may renew the celibacy option soon lol

The real and root motivation for sex (when the motivation is proper), is that it is a powerful conduit to express love between a man and a woman|
Now if love can be expressed in another way (for love is what all good people essentially desire), to one`s satisfaction, then sexual activity would not be a logical necessity for one - for there have been many happy priests, monks, and nuns (excluding the crab-apple ones, who may be that way because they were forced into that way by misguided people who thought that it would be better for them, when that was not their designated way at all)|

I admire people who choose to be celibate for whatever reason because they are sticking to their beliefs. It is not right or wrong. Do what is best for you and don't be concerned about what others think. OK?

It depends on how exactly you define celibate. It has two meanings: A) Unwilling to have sex, or B) Unwilling to get married. I am B, and I support anyone else who is. (I can tell from your screen name that you are as well.) Those who are A also have my respect. Celibacy is an individual choice that nobody else should try to infringe upon.

I wouldn't get married at all. Getting married is the first reason why people get divorced... cause you feel like legally bonded to that person and it's not fun anymore...
Besides nowadays couples tend to just "live together", be happy, raise children and don't necessary get married... who knows...
I'll just live together and share everything with my partner... THEREFORE... CELIBATE 4EVER!!!
..but with family and kids :)

I feel it is totally up to the individual. I don't judge others for their beliefs & if you want to stay celibate then that is your choice.

Their life, their choices. It really doesn't affect me one way or the other.
Oh, if you are waiting until marriage, then you are not celibate but chaste. Celibate means you will never have sex and never marry.

for the most part, I don't care. But the guy that said the real root and motivation for sex is love is deluding himself. The root and motivation for sex is procreation, it's an evolutionary necessity. That human beings tend to love the people they enjoy sex with is actually secondary. Think of all the people you love that sex never even enters the equation, like parents or friends or siblings. Sex is an instinctual drive rooted in the necessity for procreation to preserve the species. end of rant.
