I'm in charge of the School Newspaper, and I need Ideas on how to get it up and running. We are schedualed for a September 25th Publication, so I'd like replies by then.

That's a big job in a hurry.

First order of business -- you need a staff. If you have people who can fill the jobs of assistants to you (features editor, sports editor, business manager, whatever), appoint them. Then schedule an after-school meeting, open to anyone who wants to work on the paper.

You'll have to make some basic decisions in a hurry. How will you print it? What format will you use? What sort of deadlines will you have?

When I was in school in the stone age, we had a monthly publication with pictures and longer stories, and a weekly handout with sports scores, club news, etc. without any frills like pictures. That worked pretty well, and I'd have killed for a computer program like they have today. You can get something out pretty quickly these days, and it sounds like you'll need to do so.

Good luck!
