It's not to impress her, it's to get a reaction and then he and his buddies can discuss it. He steps out of the group and does something to get attention and they all whoop and think it's great. Reminds me of monkeys in the zoo.

i don't think any of the guys who do that actually think it will impress anyone but the other guys who do that. if they thought you would ignore them then they wouldn't have done it, so if it's a game to them then you just caused them to lose it.
