Im using an http proxy and i have put in my host, port, username and password, but its still not working

if you are using a network login make sure you have the domain name before your login account. Using the backslash

eg.
itnet\username

For all those happy to jump the gun, This would not be against school rules. I work for a school as a network admin. You have to put the right details (as explained above) even with things like updates for AvG Antivirus. It is not against most policies to have messengers working.

Or are you talking about an account through a college? If that is the case then ask another student who successfully routed AIM
