Encourage them to go see a counselor. In the meantime, help them come up with different strategies to use when they get upset, instead of cutting. I've heard of doing things like snapping a rubber band against the wrist, of course, calling a friend, hitting a heavy punching bag, etc.

why are they cutting themselves? because of stress? depression?

take you're friend somewhere at the weekend where you can have a real laugh and he/she can relax a little and keep reassuring them if that helps.

If you really think this person is going to cut themselves then tell their parents, it may not seem good from thie point of view but letting the parents know will help as they can keep an eye on him/her.

Like i said already if they are having a fun time then they can forget about it much easier and enjoy life.

Try going to places you haven't been before so you get more fun out of it.

THis type of behavior is referred to as SIB or self-injurious behavior, what you fully need to do on your own is research some organizations in your area or rehab/mental institions. this behavior is very very deeply rooted to something at another time that is now manifesting itself at this point in her life.

Call a psychologist briefly explain, some want to charge but intervene, most cuttters cut left to right but when they cut up and down thats a knock on death's door, due to the parallel veins that could be sliced up open, you will see when you look at your friend. get involved now before it is to late, trust me, you dont know what this behavior turns into.

Cutting generally is a form control and release the only thing a cutter can control is how they cut and when they cut they are recognizing the sense of control over that particular moment in time in their life. I cant fully explain hun, but you best llok in the yellow pages for women's center's, call the churches, call your local high school, they always had the numbers when I was in school for everything

God Bless hun, my prayers are with you

Defenseonly probably has your answer ,,, but if I were you I would distance myself from that person ,,, the quote goes Birds Of A Feather Flock Together, but before you did abanden ship I would tell the cutter that you will be jumping off if the cutting doesn't stop ,, This is their problem , let them solve it,, But I'm just saying this because I believe in freedom , and the right to be who you want to be , cutter or what ever,, and your free to be you,,,
