My wife was driving our '05' tahoe when a white smoke like substance came from the vent while the air cond. was on . we took the car to the shop and they said that she drove through a pocket of moisture. well it happened again for the second time today. be it leaves a white residue on the vent so it isn't moisture. Does any one know what this might be?

When it happened it didn't smell like smoke but there was enough substance that she thought the car was on fire.

Sounds like a leaking heater core.

It could be white mold that has grown on the condensor as well, but that seems unlikely if it's a "daily driver".

You might want to check the coolant level just to make sure it's not low.

it incredibly is condensation. it is not a super deal. you may forget approximately approximately it in case you elect. in any different case, there's a hose which routes each and all of the moisture got rid of by the AC compressor to the floor under the motor vehicle. This hose may well be clogged. Run the AC on your driveway and look for a puddle of water below. No puddle is undesirable. some water is effective. If no water is popping out, you will possibly be able to could get the hose replaced, because it may at last leak back into your vehicle.
