Gaffe-prone US President George W Bush confused APEC with OPEC and transformed Australian troops into Austrians in a series of blunders in Sydney on Friday.

Mr Bush's tongue started slipping almost as soon as he started talking at a business forum on the eve of the APEC leaders summit.

"Mr Prime Minister, thank you for your introduction," he said. "Thank you for being such a fine host for the OPEC summit."

As the audience of several hundred people erupted in laughter, Bush corrected himself and joked, "He invited me to the OPEC summit next year."

Australia has never been a member of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Later in his speech, Mr Bush recounted how Prime Minister John Howard had gone to visit "Austrian troops" last year in Iraq.

Mr Howard was visiting Australian troops. There are no Austrian troops in Iraq.

Does Bush even know what planet he's on?

I am sick of hearing excuses for this dipstick. If nothing else ........it is a little thing called MANNERS to know the name of the fu
A simple 'I am sorry that I said your troops that are helping to fight this war that we started and really affects you in no way whatsoever ... Austrian." and "I am sorry that I didn't know the correct name of the conference I am attending which has made 'Austria' into a police state because of my presence and obviously means that I don't have a clue why I am here"... would still mean that this man and the country he represents......which one is it again?? ......... has ZERO credibility and deserves even less respect.

Neither. in user-friendly terms extremists think of he substitute into at the back of 9/11... very akin to the birthers of the appropriate wing. for sure he's not an fool, yet he's not a genius the two. i've got self assurance the conflict substitute right into a significant over reaction and that i do unlike lots of his regulations. This has continually been my feeling approximately it. you spot, common human beings do no longer love or demonize a political discern. in user-friendly terms extremists do. Sound customary?

Bush is a total moron, he is a puppet on a string of the Skull and Bones. The biggest mistake he made was getting caught for killing thousands of innocent people on 9/11, it was not anyone else ( Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran or Peter Pan) it was the US Government and if you cannot see all the evidence that proves it your blind. He said twice on National TV the he saw footage of the first plane hitting the WTC while he was in his hotel before he went to the school where we all saw him being told of the second plane hitting. There was never any footage of the first plane released. If 9/11 were real he would have been takin' to a security bunker as soon as the first plane hit. I could not believe that a president would do this to his people, but after a long time researching it was true as the sky is blue. Wake up all you people and start taking back what is ours, our freedom to live, stop being scared into false believes. Hows this if you support BUSH you support the rise of the 4th Reich.

United We Stand

Divided We Fall

It is small minded questions like this that cause discontent in our Nation . . Do we have nothing better to do with our time than to pick at petty things such as this? Perhaps some would rather Sip Tea with Binladin and Plan the next move together.

I Stand behind My Commander in Chief because I am an American and I believe in My President and My Country no matter if there was a speech error or not. Who cares.

P.S. No Star for this one

Why

This man is the President of the United States...surely he's got someone of staff that could've helped him on the way over to Australia. "Repeat after me Aaayyy-Pec"

The guy is an idiot and thise who believe his propaganda are just as worrying.
Bush has no idea and it is a great concern to me that he is so powerful.

The shocking answer is no, he is not stupid.

But he is widely known to have painfully obvious poor speaking skills. And he really hasn't improved any over the course of his Presidency, which leads me to conclude it's neurological.

Not speaking well does not make the man an idiot.

(Personally I suspect his speaking problems are tied to his drug and booze filled younger days)

I think he does it on purpose to get laughs to lighten the mood about how people feel about him. And I think he does a darn good job of it.

Everytime I see him he makes me laugh and if you actually payattention to his mannerisms and speeches, you will start to see that he knows EXACTLY when he messes up and he WAITS for people to laugh.

Its brilliant if you ask me, lets take the focus off of the issues and put it on my speech making the people laugh.
