Sin covers a broad range of things, so using just one symbol to symbolize it would be hard. A person would be the only suitable symbol in my opinion, since humans do sin. Whatever you do, don't use an apple. Many people try to say that that's the fruit that Adam and Eve ate, but they don't know what actual fruit it was.
