Can I install a PC game onto a hard-drive other than the one where my OS is? Due to a financial mess I had to buy a 36Gb Raptor as opposed to the 74Gb I initially wanted & am now pretty much out of space to install new games, can I install new games to another hard drive OTHER than the one where my OS is,.. if so, what problems, (if any), can I expect to have to deal with?
I can probably get another WD Raptor, but I'll get a 74Gb drive then will install the newer games on it, BUT I don't really want to reinstall XP onto that new drive just to run the games I wish to run; any other tips or suggestions also welcome in addition to the question-needing-answers as mentioned above - thanks! :)
So far I have BF2 & BF2142,. but I ALSO want: Crysis, UT3, MoH:Airborne & probably CoD 4,.. can I run them aye-ok on a seperate HDD from the one my OS is on?

Thanks Yahoo-ers. :)

Sure...

When you get to the place in the installation showing what folder to install the gam in, change it from C:\ to whatever your new drive is called.

g-day!

What drive you install something on does make any difference to anything. It's actually usually best to get a small drive (probably around 15gb or so) for your OS and all relevant files. Then install all other material on seperate drives, buying a new HDD and installing a game on it will provide you with zero problems.

Yes you can.
Create a folder in your new hard drive named "Program Files". Than when installing the game choose to install it in "D:\Program Files" (assuming your new drive is drive D)

I know you don't want to reinstall windows but your better off installing windows on that new 36GB drive than formatting your old drive and use it for all software.

Yes, when installing, choose your location and you should be able to play the game regardless of where it is stored. Just make sure you have a shortcut placed on your desk top and your other drive is connected and recognized by your OS

If you click here on the link you can download for free Battlefield 2142: http://j.mp/1pnRJ24

it's completely free and it's very fast to install
In Battlefield 2142, the earth is in year 2142. Here, you will see the depletion of the resources of the planet in the new ice age.
For me, it's the best game ever.

It depends on the game.

MOST games can be installed on ANY drive or partition. You just have to use the 'custom' selection when loading the game. (It will STILL load certain files on the C: drive to tell it where to look for the rest of the game. (ALL my games and simulators are on the G: partition on my HD.)

on the options you just normally specify custom install

instead of default

otherwise if u pic default, it installs to c:\programfiles\ or wherever the root drive for windows.
