I'd say no. Wash well by hand and dry. If there is any rust scrub that away with an SOS or Brillo pad. Spray with a little WD40 and wipe clean.

Depends on what the handle is made of. Plastic that has writing on it- writing will come off. Ivory, wood, ebony, scrimshaw will not do well in a dishwasher. Metal handles that are colored may lose some of the coloring. Stainless steel handle is about the only thing I would feel secure about the condition remaining the same in a dishwasher.

if it does not have wood handles i would just hand wash and dry it and then put a good coat of light gun oil on it

Sure, if you want it to rust. Just clean the blade by hand and oil it.

dish detergents will dull any knife blade. i do not recomend it. i don't beleive it will rust.
