In Australia for the APEC (Asia-Pacific) conference he referred to it as the OPEC (oil) conference in Austria (the other side of the world). An embarrassment for the USA and demeaning for the Australians. Is this the man who is leading a war? Does he ever get it right? Is he your idea of a Statesman?

Statesmans= A national or international government leader. A male political leader who is considered to be above partisan poltics.
A statesman would not start or cause a war.
If he was a states man he would not have sent our young women and men over seas to the fininsh the war that has been going on for almost 6yrs. I have lost two brothers and a sister. Many others have lost family members as well.

Unfortunately, this is the man that is leading the occupation of Iraq. And no, he never gets it right. Not economically, not globally, not politically. He never listens to the American people and expects us to follow him blindly. (And to whom posted first on this question...he's had more than one bad day. Almost every day that man has been allowed to govern this country has been a bad day. )

Statesman: A skilled, experienced and respected political figure or leader.

He is not a statesman to me. A statesman would've listen to its citizens who sent him a message in 2006 by electing democrats. We wanted this world to end, all he did was escalate it. A statesman also wouldn't have gone into war on false evidence. A statesman wouldn't only represent the top 1% of Americans. A statesman wouldn't have allowed the firing of 12 judges that disagreed with him and then allow his cabinet members to lie to congress. A statesman would know what conference he was at.

A statesman wouldn't be an embarrassment to the whole world. And that, is what George Bush is to me.

There is NO EXCUSE for the leader of a country as powerful and so big mouthed as the USA to make these kinds of mistakes.

If he was the president of the local Chamber of Commerce you could say it was a just a bad day - but this man is the leader of the free world (supposedly). He should have a pretty good idea of the name and place of the country he is presently in and what the hell he is there for! I don't think that is too much of a stretch.

Apart from anything else it is disrespectful and ignorant.
For example: If John Howard referred to the "Armenian" troops in Iraq instead or "American" troops - just watch the death threats roll in!! I can bet you that there would be no excuses made for him by the American public.

But we Australians are supposed to take this crap and make excuses for this idiot. Give me a break!!!!

To be frank, people do make mistakes too. Just that when we make that mistake, it must be able to cover itself. To the Bush man, he has made the ultimate mistake by saying the wrong thing, especially in an all important conference like the APEC meet in Australia.

He's a great leader, but his arrogance and over-confidence can be his weakest link though.

Cheers and have a nice week ahead :)

PS No grudges though, just opinions.

He also said to our Deputy Prime Minister that "we are kicking ass" when asked about the security situation in Iraq.

Does the cretin think we do not have access to news and current affairs here? Did he really think we would believe that lie?

Someone should kick his ass...

Statesman?.... No. D!ckhead?... Yes

True statesmen know the difference between Austria and Australia. Even elementary school kids know the difference.

Maybe he has been with his pals Johnny Walker and Jack Daniels and they made him kind of messed up.
