Do all Liberals secretly want everyone to just hand their paycheck over to the government, because the government is much more capable of making their decisions for them than they are?

No. Liberals believe that a government is an institution that is supposed to protect and aid its citizens. I only pay for it so it does these things. However, I do not believe that the poor should be paying more taxes than the rich. I don't think I should be paying my half my paycheck to a government who isn't representing me.
BUT I do think we need money to run the government and social programs. We also need money to currently support our troops. And since we are in a deficit, the money needs to come from somewhere. Personally, I think we should raise taxes for the wealthy by undoing Bush's tax cuts.
I'm guessing your a fan of Bush's tax cut? You do realize that that tax cut only applies to your income tax....not your payroll tax. You didn't really stop paying a lot of money. That is, unless you're wealthy. Then congrats, you won out on that one.

This is not a question, this is an attack posed as a question. Don't be afraid of either the Liberal or the Conservative boogiemen, both are just extreme characterizations. These fictional extremes are only mind control devices purposefully used to trick and rob you of your ability to think for yourself. Most people discover that they are much closer in their positions on social and tax questions when they sit down and have a discussion instead of an argument. Using divisive political agendas helps only a very select few people. These people tout high principles, while they fan the flames of fear and hate to promote their own power or position. Others follow them unaware that they are being used, victims of a scam that is tearing apart the fabric of our society. What is a liberal, someone who wants government to have total control? Then there are no liberals. What is a conservative, someone who has no heart and lacks any conscience? Then there are no conservatives. People are people not labels. People attempt to understand, (not necessarily agree with), why other people’s beliefs are different from there own.

Do all conservative Bush followers want the country to sink into bankruptcy? Do all Bush followers and conservatives like paying 20% of their taxes for the interest on our nation's debt? Which in turn goes to the bankers and financiers who financed the debt and are making billions in profits off your taxes while they fund the GOP election cash cow to keep that money flowing from your pocket to theirs? Don't you ever wonder why the GOP isn't complaining about the rising interest rates? Do all Bush followers and conservatives like paying over 58% of your taxes to the military industrial corporate complex who rips off the government with price gouging? Do you like paying for the socialized medicine in Iraq while our own citizens have none but pay for it all? Do all Bush followers and conservatives like that oil corporations, pharmaceuticals and agribusiness gets over $280 billion dollars a year in government funded grants, subsidies and give aways on top of the already low taxes, tax write offs and tax dodging that they do? Who do you think is going to pay for this war? Do you like the fact that you are paying all these taxes and getting absolutely nothing in return? Apparently you do. Liberals simply want our taxes to work for the people, not go to the corporations in the form of gov't handouts and corporate welfare that in turn buy our politicians. Apparently you would rather give these multi billion dollar corporations your taxes and government money over too rather than your kid's school.

Seems like the GOP abdicated that responsibility to the government when they endorsed and passed the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, NCLB, and the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit....just to name a few....

A guy I worked with a few years ago was a staunch democrat.
He pulled down $18.00/hour and his wife ran a daycare in their home. She sat for four kids.
They had three kids.
He stated that if it was up to him he would prefer that the government tax him 60% because people need help.
Then they outgrew their home, bought another and the 60% number was never brought up again.

So at what lever are higher paid democrats willing to devote to taxes?
I don't see them volunteering extra tax money so the jury's still out on that one.
