My friend has bought a Hillman Minx from the early 1960s. It has no seatbelts as it was never built with any. I've had a look round the internet and can only see "seatbelts must be worn if fitted". Is there a law in place where vintage cars must now be fitted with seatbelts? She's using it as her primary car, not as a secondary one.

No, you do not, by law, need to retrofit seatbelts -- however, it's highly recommended. Why wouldn't you want to wear something that could save your life in an accident?

I hope she drives very carefully. No seat belts, no air bags, no crumple zone, no "soft" fittings inside. By any stretch of design those cars were death traps.
