I need a new printer. There are too many to pick from. Would like one of the all-in-one printers for copy, scan, and printing. Can someone recommend a make and model. This needs to fit the needs of a college student.

Try to stay away of the All in one machines. Reliability is a big issue, especially on the small budget models. Try getting a real printer and a real scanner even if on low student budget. For a lot of text you could have a laser printer, only black, or if you want combined better would be Cannon. Tanks are on a different technology that HP and they can be refilled easier and last longer, assuming u don't buy original cartridges when they empty, which happens most with students. Safest bet would be a laser color printer and a scanner.

First, determine if you need a PSC or if a printer, only, will do. If you do not need a PSC (although they are nice), I just picked up a Brother HL2040 Laser for $49.50 (refurbished) at Office Depot. It is a printer, only. Prints beautifully, compact in size, quiet - it's all good!

I have already dumped two almost new PSCs because in a very short time the sensors for either the paper supply or ink went on the fritz. Could not correct. Trying to get an authorization to return for an exchange requires calling a not-toll-free number and being put on hold.

Check the ads in the Sunday paper. You just missed a lot of great sales over Labor Day. Usually, these are weekend or two-day specials and you should get there when the store opens, but it is worth it. As for the model, one is about as good as the other. They give away the printers, and get you on the cartridges.

check samsung they have very reasonable priced laser all in 1's

and... best of all.. .unlike hp/lexmark ect ect ect.... they do not require manufacturer services running in order to use these abilities... helps keep your computer running smooth and quick :)
