To figure out the power, find the square root of the number.

sqrt(729)
= 27^2 <--You could simplify this to 9^3 if you want.

sqrt(15625)
= 125^2

729 = 9*9*9 = 9^3

15,625 = 25*25*25 = 25^3

Take the log of each number using different bases. If you get a whole number for the answer, then your answer is the base to that power.

For example, if you want to express 1000000 as a power, take log(10) of 1000000 and you should get 6, so 1000000 = 10^6. If you try log(5) 125, log(5)125 = 3, so 5^3 = 125, right?

9³ = 729, 81^1.5 = 729, (531,441)^.5 =729

2.5³ = 15.625, 6.25^1.5 = 15.625,
244.14063^.5 = 15.625
