What is your opinion? For the kidnappers who could never be parents because they do not possess a heart , or compassion. If you think you are ''parent material'' then plug your brain in and sort yourself out. I doubt they have the capacity to even read this. So my question to those wishing to post an opinion is what penalty other than death would you give those who have kidnapped Madeleine Mcann?

I read the story this morning when it was released about the parents being suspect.

After so many years in law enforcement, one thing I've learned with any certainy is that you just never know until all the evidence is in.

The media reported that the parents MAY be suspect which is certainly an avenue that MUST be checked.........just in case.

Imagine the number of times family members have committed crimes against other family members using the alibi that there would be no way they could bring harm to their own spouse or any other member.

In this case, however, what IF the parents were responsible and nobody checked just to be sure....that leaves this child in a hopeless situation where she very well could remain because nobody looked!

I think they should rot in a cell, with no amenities other than food and water! Be treated like the dirt they are and never get out!
I may not be a police officer but I do know bodies don't bleed after 25 days, so the suspicion of any blood being found in that car being the childs is ridiculous.
If Madeleine had died in an accident, why try and cover it up. They are both Doctors, not idiots! How many times will they have seen children die do you think! It happens! They would surely have found a better cover story than saying they left them alone, they must have known what people would think of them!
Losing a child can make people behave in all sorts of odd ways, believe me I KNOW! I think there is something odd about the whole thing but I'll believe the Parents are innocent unless someone can really prove other-wise. It wouldn't be the first time an innocent person was blamed!

I dont think its a case of what should happen to the kidnappers we should be supporting the family and parents ,I find it hard to believe the parents are involved but I also think they know something small as it might be .It is said now that it might have been accidental she was harmed but I cant see any mother not allowing her daughter a funeral and standing up to what went wrong.I just hope that in all the evidence they find, the familly are not set up with d&a to hide someone elses guilt.I hope I,m not wrong but I do not believe for one minute either parent could have killed there daughter and hidden evidence so well.We have no death penalty here and I,m glad of that, I dont know about Portugal

I think I would put them in jail in a cell that's completely dark and where no sounds can be heard unless circumstances determined it was absolutely necessary, such as putting a light on for several minutes at a time so the prisoner(s) could toilet, wash and eat and the only communication they got was only necessary contact with guards/wardens. I would not tell them how long the sentence would be for and ban the guards from disclosing anything to them such as time of day, what day it is etc etc. That's about the worst punishment I could think of, it would be about feeling completely helpless without the chance of knowing when it was going to end. Just what the kidnappers have put on the parents of Madeline.

I very much doubt the parents' involvement as if they wanted to kill her, why take her on holiday to do it and if something happened accidentally, why cover it up. As for people saying they're not acting normally, who's to say what is normal in that case, people act differently and people react very differently to a given situation. You never know how you're going to act or react to something until you're going through it.

Death is not a suitable penalty ever. And who said she was kidnapped? How can a kidnapper (and if she was kidnapped, that doesn't mean she was also murdered), conceal someone who is being sought so publicly?

I watch/hear all this on the news and I cannot believe it! There is no way that the parents can be guilty. Definitely those people who have kidnapped Madeleine should be put to death. For whatever reason they took her, there is no excuse - none whatsoever, they have only taken her for evil reasons. They should face the death penality. Nobody should EVER take a child. Those parents must be going through sheer hell at his moment in time.

there's no way the parents could have did it. and as for the death penalty is too easy, we should go back to good old fashioned torture. everyone that is found guilty of any form of abuse against kids, and rapists, should be tortured, slowly, to death. i would gladly do it myself. I'm sure not many people would object to it???? those sick ******** would think twice about what their doing then!

I don't know what to think. And that isn't a cop-out answer.... I have been bombarded with information (true or not?) from all sides, and am just waiting, like a lot of people, for it all to pan out and hopefully, for justice to prevail.

I just hope that Maddie, wherever she is, isn't suffering.
