yes this is normal.
people should clean around the coils for dust lint and at my house dog hair.
This will help the appliance run more efficient and maybe not as hot

Yes - that black 'grill work' found on some 'fridges is the 'evaporator coil' just like the outside unit on a central air conditioner.
Be sure to leave the 'fridge with a couple inch gap to the wall behind it, to allow that heat to escape. Don't shove the fridge back against the wall, hehehehe.
Ive seen some of these units that could actually get hot to the touch, if the door was opened a lot, and the cooling unit had to work harder.
Good Luck

yes. a fridge is nothign more than a heat pump. it removes heat from the inside of the fridge. it has to go somewhere. plus, the inherent inefficiency of machines leads to wrmth as well. the backside of a window AC is hot too. law of thermodynamics, energy cannot be created or destroyed...... so, the heat removed from your fridge has to go somewhere.

If you are talking about a set of coils - that is the condenser and you probably have a Frigidaire unit. If so, when it is not getting hot is when you have a problem.
