Anytime someone implies that you should be or act a specific way, just look at them and say "Stereotype much?" Just because you don't fit into a handy little pre-defined pigeonhole in THEIR minds doesn't mean it's YOUR problem.
Be yourself, be who you are. Your friends will like you the way you are.
Remember: Those you mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. (Dr. Seuss)

If people are so offended by a nice person just being who they are, then the problem is THEIRS, not yours. Stay true to yourself and don't try to become like them for the sake of acceptance. Unfortunately, kids being mean is a rite of passage and a national pass time for some. I was teased mercilessly in school for being overweight. I'm still overweight, but self-confident and accomplished and proud of the good works I have done over the years. I just attended my 30th class reunion and the very people who called me names are now fat, have never left that little town or accomplished anything in life. I've traveled the world, speak 3 languages, own my own home and do a lot of community service work. In the end, it was all worth it and I can hold my head high.
Don't change a thing, darling.

Don't let yourself fall into ANY type of stereotype. Like, dress, wear and eat what you like. Just because you are Puerto Rican doesn't been that you have to like or dislike certain things. If someone tries to tell you this, they they have a problem. They obviously aren't comfortable with who they are.

Sweetheart, that's how the world IS. They judge you on how you look. I have a 187 IQ, but I'm overweight and crippled (overweight BECAUSE crippled, actually) and people assume I'm a stupid redneck because of it. I'm sorry you have to learn this so early...perhaps you could develop an attitude... you know, say "what, you jealous?" or something next time they start. Or, learn to ignore them, and make friends with real live human beings instead of dipwads. Good luck, from experience, I can say you'll need it.
