Democrats sit left and Republicans sit right. Where does an Independent like Lieberman sit? Guess this would apply to all third party candidates who are elected.

Senator Lieberman actually refers to himself as an "Independent Democrat". This means he sits with Democrats, caucuses with Democrats, holds committee posts with the Democratic side, and acts like a Republican.

He became an independent because the Democrats in Conneticut stopped voting for him because he frequently sided with the Republicans.
No, it isn't true that all third-party candidates are like this. Ralph Nader is a perfect example.

I believe that he sits on the steps between the two sides but leans to the right so that he can talk to his cronies.
