"James Peterson is a veterenarian.
He is troubled by nightmares of a dog and headlights. His wife is quickly becoming annoyed that is so focused on the nightmare. As he plans his own death, he begins to see the dog everywhere."

Main idea is still there. It sounds like you might not be quite ready to start writing a book. The wording in that summary was ... well, let's just say we don't QUITE have another Jo Rowling on our hands. But keep practicing. Otherwise, how will you get any better? Maybe writing that book would be good practice.

I agree with the Raven comment - it is very cliche. It needs some tweaking to become a good original plot. Pax- C

two words. the raven. (horror story by edgar allen poe which is a bird version of your story)

i dont want to be rude but it sounded quite funny to me.
how about vet bitten by dog, convinced he is one, and shifts between behaving like a dog and behaving like a human. it could be funny and scary because of the mental paranoia and he could be driven to suicide
