i made a crocheted skirt and the main body was made in v-stitch, and i am stumped as to what type of edging to use on it. It is " incompleted" as it hangs in my closet.

Choosing an edging can be difficult. I can't recommend just one and say, "this is the 'must' edging to use!" and be sure you'll be happy as each edging will change the way the finished product will look. So the question here is, what type of personality do you want your crocheted skirt to have?

If you want a simple edge, giving your skirt a sporty look, then you can single crochet around and then do a round of reverse single crochets (known as the reverse sc, or the "crab" stitch).

If you want something more traditional ... then you can do a variation of the shell stitch around.

Want to make it flirty? Then do a series of rows where every row has 2 or 3 stitches in each stitch (the increases will cause it to ripple).

Want something a little more feminine? Then try a pineapple border.

There are a number of websites and books available that offer various types of crochet edgings to try. One technique that I highly recommend is creating edgings with beads -- Melody MacDuffee has a great how-to book out available at anniesattic (you can see it here: http://www.anniesattic.com/search.html?criteria=beaded+edgings) -- now that would add a lot of sizzle to a great project! :)

I hope this helps.

I saw in September's issue of Crochet, the picot stitch was used as an edging for a hoodie dress that was made with the v stitch and it looked wonderful.
