I caught a glimpse just know while watching tv of a PSA (not from a Christian group but the CDC or something of that sort) urges parents to teach their children to wait. First off many parents do this and still the same results, and not to mention gay people can't married so there goes that idea and really not all religion preach chastity, it's mostly the Abrahamic religions and most American and westernized Christians are open to sex before marriage... What do you think, should the gov't push an idea like this?

Okay I get, it's to help prevent teen pregnancies (because once again they are up) and STD's but instead of suggesting something so drastic, suggest that the children use protection and/or wait until they are adults?

I saw something like this on Nickelodeon or some other kids channel and I thought it was pretty strange. Isn't that something for individual parents to discuss privately. If i see this again I'm going to complain to the station. I think if it bothers you, you should do the same. If it was a PSA we should complain to them.

Oh yeah because no one has ever gotten pregnant or an STD from failed barrier contraception - let's teach our teens to go ahead and do it, but with protection. How's about we do what the PSA says and talk openly with our children and urge them not to have sex because they are not emotionally, physically, or financially in a position to have a child.

What are they infringing upon?

The CDC's job is to curtail the transmission of illnesses . . . if abstinence is going to do that -- then, they can support it . . .

they're not saying, "if you don't force your kids to wait until marriage for sex, we're going to kidnap your children, re-arrange your furniture, and fill your car tires with whipped cream" or anything . . .

they're just supporting a position.

It prevents teenagers from becoming pregnant or picking up an STD. Which will give them a better chance on being successfully in life.

They are "suggesting" and that is not an infringement on anyone.
