Or ever have been? If you are, how many times have you been married? How long have you been married?

I don't respond yes to a question about divorce. I say you should be able to work out your problems together.

I have been married 12 years and counting.

We both love each other too much to get a divorce.

There will always be hard, sad, happy, and exciting times in a marriage. Ups & downs. And all around. Stick to your guns and work it out.

I respond 'yes' for sure if it's an abusive relationship of any kind, and if you truly are unhappy, to the point of depression, and counseling, talking, etc. don't work, you owe it to yourself and spouse to try to be happy. Some marriages just weren't meant to be, no matter how hard you try. My first marriage was 10 years and he just realized, and I agreed, there was nothing there. (Married at 19). My second, I've been married 20 years and I think both of us have felt like throwing in the towel at times, but we've stuck it out. Everyone goes through ups and downs, and surviving the downs does make you stronger!

I am married - my first and only marriage - and I've been with my man 17+ years.

My suggestions to those in an unhappy marriage are usually to seek (and get) counseling - the only time I suggest getting a divorce directly is when any abuse of any kind is involved.
There is No Excuse for abuse - I don't care if it's mental, emotional, physical or sexual, abuse is wrong and unforgivable. Period!

Best Wishes.

If the person SERIOUSLY doesn't want to be married and has valid reasons why they don't want to be, then by all means...get out of the marriage.

I've been married twice....this time (10 years) I'm VERY happy. I've got a good man who treats me well. My first marriage (5 years) was a horror novel I lived every single day till I worked up the courage to leave.

Married 12yrs......I don't answer every question about a unhappy marriage by telling them to get a divorce I always advise someone on what I would personally do. Sometimes I tell them to get counseling or help. When I recommend divorce it's because of abuse or cheating.

I base my answers on my life, friends and work experiences and the fact I have been married for 18 years and I know my marriage has had it's ups and down. I also know the diference between being in a bad situation and causing a bad situation.
In 18 years I have never cheated, hit or gambled away money.

I'm married for 9 years. This is my first marriage. And I'm sure it will be my last and only marriage.

It is my husband's 2nd marriage. His first marriage was not happy at the end. She did *not* want to be married to *him* anymore. She might have enjoyed being married to someone who would keep on fighting with her all of the time. She seems to enjoy arguing & being a victim. He probably would have stuck around, if she hadn't left, for his daughter's sake.

But, she left. And he, eventually, filed for divorce so that he could have an enforceable custody agreement in hand & move on with his life as a parent on his own, with some stability for his daughter.

He has moved on to find happiness (I hope) with me, instead of continuing on in a marriage with someone who enjoyed fighting, making herself into a sad victim. His daughter has a good relationship to model her life on, now, too.

I think he made a good choice to end his marriage. :D

I have and I've been married twice first one for 5 years and dated for 5 years prior, still friends. Second one dated for two years and married for almost 10.
That isn't always the answer I give but I have given it.
