We are in Loudon County, Ashburn, VA and we know we are only going to be here until Dec. or Jan. so we do not want to sign a 1 year contract. We have a home in California and it is already set up with Comcast, so we won't need to transfer it over there when we leave. I know there is no contract with Comcast, but they have a one time set up fee. Is there cable places with no contract and no set up or installation fee?
Thanks

For 'cable', there is no one who does not offer a set up fee. Now, a lot of the phone companies are getting into the 'DSL' television market, where they send television over the phone lines. Cavalier Telephone has good customer service and they often have no set up fee or they will waive the fee. You just have to stay on hold for them forever. Switching channels takes a while, though. Kind of like satelite TV or a Digital Cable Box. Verizon is getting into the 'DSL' TV game, also. But they aren't nearly as friendly.

Good luck!
