I am interested in becoming a puppy raiser for seeing eye dogs, and would like to know what the regulations are at schools for having guide dog puppies on campus. I know that law requires schools to allow fully certified guide dogs on their property, but am not sure what the laws are when the dogs are still in training. I've trained a lot of dogs, and I know that in order for them to become well disciplined, you have to spend as much time as possible with them, and the only way for me to do that would be to bring the pup to school with me. Have any idea what the Ohio laws are for this?

While I wish you all of luck in your profession. Why would you bring the dogs to school with you. It seems like they would distract you and others from your study. If you are not going to be serious about school, maybe you should just not go and just train the dogs.

In Pennsylvania I know they do. One of my neighbors had a sister who was disabled, and she was raising and training a guide dog for her. She took the dog to classes with her and even on the bus to campus! This was at Penn State University, not sure about something like a high school.

And Hilton, guide dogs need to be well disciplined and handle every kind of situation, which is why taking them to school and everywhere you possibly can makes sense. They will be attending school and work with the person they're guiding, so they need to learn appropriate behavior in those places too.

You can probably talk to your particular school about it. They should make an exception for all seeing eye dogs, even the ones who are only in training. From my understanding, the dogs in training have to go everywhere the trainer goes.

The law permits disabled people to bring a qualified service animal to places like schools. This does not mean that non-disabled people can bring thier dogs, just because the animals are trained to be service animals. Unless you need the dog because of a disability, you will not be permitted to bring it to school. (It's too much of a distraction to other students)

There are rigid standards for a coach that is preparation one among those canines and going to a school is one among them. for greater guidance, do a google seek for "handbook canines preparation". that is spectacular what those canines are able to.

Yes, they do allow it. BUT, you have to provide PROOF to them before you do it.
