A secret is a powerful thing. My friends know that a secret entrusted to me is carried to my grave. This creates a bond that is life-long and meaningful. A secret revealed is devistating beyond measure, and destroys all ties with the bearer of the indiscretion.
How wise you are to explore this powerful facet of human relations.

secrets exist because we have been given the brain power to do such acts (keeping secrets) to be used for self preservation. as humans, we have the ability to think ahead in time about the consequences that would arise when an incident happens which would eventually compromise our own existence. secrets appear in different forms and are used for different purposes. for example, it is used to prevent embarrassment (not wanting to be ridiculed by peers/society, which subconciously translates to the saying "no man is an island" and that i cant live outside the "circle" and that being an outcast is not an option because it would decrease my chances of survival in this world), or to the highest level - keeping secrets so someone wont kill you or to preserve/lengthen someone else's life, either directly or indirectly. not being part of a group or being an outcast in todays world may seem fine once in a while and would not bring certain death, but thousands of years ago when being alone meant being eaten alive by a lion, having some friends would be very convenient. also, secrets can be used to simply prevent discomfort or increase comfort in your life (which is also thought to be connected to lengthening one's life).get the picture?just imagine.
we are on a whole new level now as modern humans (for the time being..). we live in a time where running for your life is no longer an everyday thing. thru time we have developed a non physical way of evading predators/enemies.
just like how a chameleon is able to copy the color of its surroundings, or simply the ink that squirts out of an octopus, we humans too have developed a skill which is designed for the same purpose. we call it secrets and lies.

there is a pupose for some things to be kept private. you do not want to tell the drug dealer you are an under cover police working on gathering evidence against them. but there are many secrets that have run their course and are in great need of being revealed to the world, for reasons like to counteract the destruction that we are drawing on ourselves. secrets like the great mysteries of christ that have yet to be told to the puplic. the simple things that are almost imposible not to see but are yet unseen by most of the world, like the body of christ being made up by the beleivers, so we are the body of christ, and then when scripture says that the head of the body is christ, most people add another part to the body, though we know allready that there is only one body, but they do this and set it above the first body, attempting to build a human figure, because of this word head. the actual meaning is that there is no one person or member in this body that is greater than the other. there is no one single leader or president. we as one are the head. all things are put on the table to be worked with by all the members of the body, and then we are to work together on finding the method of employment to be used to settle the issues that are layed before them. so we together as one are christ, so how does that account for the phenomenons that have occured all over the world that are unexplainable? in this we must realize that when the word says that god is in all things, and that a wise man studies all knowledge, and that there are great depths and heights to god, that it is time to turn to science, energy, electricity. the human body has energy that passes through us all, at all time we are communicateing with each individual in the world, yet we are unconscious of this activity, mostly. we know the work of faith. if you beleive, that is truely beleive, all things are possible, and just that faithfull energy creates and works. even though many are deseaved in the truths of christ, most do really beleive in their teachings and therefore are creating cercumstances by what they beleive. science proves that like minds intertwine and join together spiritually and push on each other their seperate thoughts, ideas, beliefs, and the like. study truely diligently of all things, a little of each at a time, keeping in the pattern of a spiral so that you do not get caught up in one single thing, religion, or science, which may make it hard for you to set off what you have learned to be able to accept what may be correct but counterdictory to your last studies. moderation is important.

I keep secrets that I must keep to maintain the life I lead. I don't like to keep them, but the consequences of telling the truth would be devastating.

I think the better philosophy question would be: How many people can know about something before it is no longer a secret?

well sometimes they soffucate us, sometimes, it's rather the unsaid that harms more than any other insult or word ; others it's just necessary, some sort of self protection.. a secret garden.

Secrets are necessary in some cases. I think by intuition, we know who is ready to hear things and who is not ready.
