Absolutely. Not real high, probably in the 20s, but they've proven themselves by not only beating a highly ranked team on the road, but by winning 15 straight games and two straight 1-AA championships. Good to see that 1-AA teams are at least eligible to receive votes.

Well, they did beat the currently ranked 32nd team in the country at Michigan. With the way the system works currently if a Bowl Division school did that for their only game, they would probably be in the top 25.
But they would have serious trouble maintaining that with their schedule. They would have to be winning their games by 40 every week to prevent from falling out.

No, they are not eligible for bowl games or anything so there really isn't any point to ranking them among D-1 schools. They get to win there championship on the field in a playoff like all champions should so they don't need a ranking anyway.

app. state has won I-AA title last two years. Also why would you put them in AP, b/c they are not eligible to play in Championship game. All they would do is screw up the rankings. That's just retarded.

No, App. St. doesn't deserve to be in the AP Poll because they aren't eligible. They're an FCS team (formerly Div. 1AA) and no team from that division can be ranked. They are however the best team from that division. Afterall, they are the defending 2 time National Champions at that level.

They did just change the rules, and now I-AA (FCS) teams can be ranked.
But...I don't think App St. should be there. It was one win. They have to play more than one I-A (FBS) team a year for me to even consider ranking them.

OK kids. Here we go again. WE have division 1A, and we have division 1AA. Appalacian is 1AA. So to simply answer the question, no. Why because Appalacian is in division 1AA.

they havent proven themselves yet, that win over michigan was a fluke, sorry. If they beat a top ten ranked team next game you might have a point, but not for now its just too early.
