I dont get it. "god bless America and no other land"? It's like a football player scoring a touchdown and prayin. God was on his side, but not the other teams side?

so god is on America's side, but no one elses?

god bless America and no other land. How self righteous is the pledge of Allegiance? pretty darn arrogant if you ask me. But what else would you expect from a bucnh of god fearing folks that kill in gods name.

I really have doubts that she (god) would care who is doing what. but she is probably a little upset that the war mongering, fear mongoring fundies use her name to justify all the killing they do.

hmm.. killing in God's name. Now thats a new one. Great going Bushies.

I'm sure she is a little upset about the entire Bush scam saying she told bush to kill Iraqi's in her name. Let alone all the American soldeirs like my borther tht have died in vain.

God is on everyones side and the republicans can't make us believe he isn't unless we literally believe them.I mean what does it matter anyway too many people don't even believe there is a god so why care?I was in a chat room yesterday and just by saying godbless when I left the room started this huge controvery. Its bad enough people have something against people like me because I am gay.But it is even worse that so many have turned their backs on the man who gave us life in the first place.Bush is a jackass plain and simple and I personally can't wait for him to be out!He is planning to invade Iran next and that is yet 1 of the 1,000 stupid things he has done.Once again I am so sorry for you your brother should still be alive as should all the other soldiers who have sacrificed their lives as your brother did.I say godbless him and i don't care if anyone has a problem with the word. Its bad enough people have issues with me because I am gay and a Christian. The world is crazy plain and simple.

Everyone thinks God is on their side. For instance, the people in the part of the country I live in are considered to be in the Bible Belt and the Confederacy. Look at the maps, they're almost identical.

Europe, Africa, the Middle East, no matter where you go, you'll find someone waging war for their god.

As a former Marine, I'm going to have to go with the 1954 version, which is very much like the original.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands:
one Nation under God, indivisible,
With Liberty and Justice for all."

I don't know if I completely believe anything from any one particular religion, but I say the God part because my roots are here and the nation was formed by settlers fleeing religious persecution.

You make a valid point. What makes American Republicans believe that God is only on their side? Have they ever considered that God might be siding with the Iraqis? Christianity is not the only 'true' religion on this messed-up planet. Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists - even agnostics and atheists - are all part of this world's make-up, and might be as 'right' as the rest of us!
Be it an evolutionary 'big bang' theory; an intelligent designer; God or Nature - the fact that American Republicans believe their God is the only 'true' god is just one more indication of how our avarice, arrogance, evil, corruption, sloth, and hubris has set in; like the great Roman and Greek empires before us, American will surely perish - sooner rather than later. -RKO- 09/07/07

Is this a question or a statement?
God is on all peoples side; supporting the individual moral fiber and virtues humans are capable of exhibiting, not the political philosophy from which the individual emanates.
Your brother didn't die in vain as he supposedly died supporting an ideal he believed in, not because he thought God was telling him to do it. If your brother died following the virtues expressed by God, then God supported him in life as well as death.
Rather than "genderizing" God, maybe we should consider the awesome spirit, love, and virtue the term "God" represents.

God created the universe and the earth along with it but He doesn't care what happens to the animals on the face of the earth. He put us here as an experiment to see how long we can last before we blow up the planet. He does not chose sides.

God who created all life and the stars is not on any governments side, they are all opposed to his kingdom, why would he support his enemies?

He doesn't recognize any other government but his own, tho he allows it for now, it is only temporary. remember why he allowed pharoah to rule for a while (for the sake of showing you my power and to have my name declared in all the earth).

These governments are living on borrowed time.check out 2 corithians 4:4 or REvelation 12:12 or Luke 4:1-8 and you will see another reason why he doesn't support any human government.

God is not a girl silly. God is on the side of the righteous(US , and other countries that agree with our world view) You don't expect him (God always spell with a capital G not a lower case g) to be on the side of barbarians who want you to live under a bed sheet, undergo sexual mutilation surgery, be beaten for laughing, dancing, singing, driving a car, getting a job, selecting a husband of your own choice, or choosing not to believe in God at all, now do you? Considering that those barbarians are not open to dialog or reason, I'm sure God doesn't mind us killing them in self defense in order to continue to work his will on earth.

Many people seem to think so. Actually I don't think God takes sides. He has given people the ablility to decide, to think, to act on their own. If He was not going to allow us to do that so He could manipulate or help one side over the other than He wouldn't have bothered making us this way. I doubt the Almighty would want killing done in His Name from either side.

Not really. Gore Vidal said, "We have one political party in this country; the property party. It has two right wings: The Republican and Democrat." The Dems just happen to be better hucksters of the snake oil to the avg. citizen.
