Not trying to denigrate all the genuine feeling for a poor young innocent but if half the mawkish sentimentent were put into positive action for the poor, starving and thirsty etc. then we could probably save a couple of thousand lives in the the third world every day.
Anyway her name was Madeleine, not Maddie.

Yep. Seems half the questions in the N&E section relate to the McCanns.

Idiot parents go out to dinner and leave their three children under age 5 in the hotel room alone, not making use of the babysitting service because they were only out for a little bit and they weren't too far away, anyway. Now there are more conspiracy theories popping up here than for the Kennedy assassination.

Give it a rest, folks. I'd like to know why this particular child is getting so much attention when there are thousands of kids missing in the U.S. and probably a healthy number in England as well.

Well to be honest their probably lonely and very depressed their obviously not ok or they wouldn't be cutting themselves it's not attention seeking and no one wants to do it it's a coping mechanism a very unhealthy one and they are so despirate to stop they want to talk to some one straight away instead of reading what other people have written. And even if they are attention seeking, people attention seek because they feel like crap and it may be annoying to people but it's a serious problem and horrible to go through so of course their going to attention seek and to just say "Oh just go to the doctors" doesn't help and by them talking about their trying to get help. They don't know what to do and lizzy why the hell should they starve themselves :S? And well what Jo said is true and a hell of a burn go Jo :P

It's something rare and unusual, of course people will be interested in the case, while starving people in third world countries aren't newsworthy because they've always been around. It's just the way the world is. Same way the world will give you a million for being able to sing, but not for being a good nurse. The world isn't always fair.

Yeah... I do agree. In all honesty, I don't think she's alive - not to sound cruel, it's just what I believe is the truth. I'm just getting sick and tired of it popping up in the headlines every. Single. Freakin'. Day.

What about the hurricanes in the USA, or the issues with the Chinese lead paint? I know those will be incredibly boring to some people, but everyone I know is fed up with the whole Madeleine act.

I'd love it if it was never mentioned again (in terms of all the stupid theories etc). But, I can't keep away from this site at the moment. I find I have to chip in in the interest of trying to keep some sort of balance against all the vicious sniping. It's giving me a real insight into just how pathetic, vile and uncaring some people are. It's an eye opener for me.

(I don't mean decent opinions about any aspect of the case. I mean the nasty crap).

One of my earlier Q&A's raised this point, but its still every much as valid asked by yourself and anyone who askes it after.

I pointed out that while it was sentimental that Madeleines brother and sister left a plate of food for her, each year 5 million children die outright and another 150 million are dying as a result of hunger. I goy caned by the Pro-McCanns for daring to compare and you may feel some of their wrath too (though they are subdued with the current news)

Anyway good question.

So you're suggesting we start talking about the third world instead? What's that going to do?!

Answers is a forum, not a help organisation. We're not here to help and we never said we were. We're here to talk about the issues and ask important questions, not feed the world!

Long story short, you've missed the entire point of the "circus"

You are 100 percent correct. Thanks for saying what needed to be said a long time ago. You have two grown adult parents that decide to go out and eat and leave three children in a room, by themselves and check on them whenever it is convenient with them. That in itself is neglect and should ring a bell. I really feel sorry for the child because we may never know what happened to her. God rest her soul.

Not a nice thing to say I know, but Iam sick of the McCanns. They should not have left the child.

Yawn - Another one with mock sympathy pulling out then 'Anyway her name was Madeleine, not Maddie.'

Well heres a free clue for you. The McCanns themselves! ran a text donating service where if you texted MADDIE to a certain number £1 would be donated to the fund.

So I suggest you have a rant at her parents first for not getting her name right then talk to us.
