I don't EVER feel full when I eat. I haven't ever felt that "full feeling." Is there something I can do so that I do get that feeling and know when it is time for me to stop eating?

What are you looking for as a "full" feeling - sometimes people expect "full" to feel like you've just finished Thanksgiving dinner, but that's actually overly full. "Full" is just not hungry anymore. It takes a while for your feelings to catch up to your stomach, that's why it's a good idea to eat slowly and drink a big glass of water before you begin eating - it helps the stomach feel full faster.

Another important thing to do is pay attention to portion sizes. Don't fill a plate just because that's what you always eat - actually look at what a "serving" of something is. Eat the serving slowly - focusing on eating, not while multitasking, for example - and when done, don't let yourself get anything else for at least 15-30 minutes, even if you still feel hungry right that moment. Put the plate away (wash it, even!), clean up, go start doing something else, and then later decide ifyou're really still hungry - often by that time, you're over it, or realize that it's "head hunger."

And, finally, if you realize you are still hungry, make sure you have healthful foods around to snack on that you enjoy.

If after trying that for a month or so you truly are always feeling hungry (again, there's a difference between hungry, nothing or "full," and stuffed to the gills) you may want to consult with your physician about appetite suppressants or the possibility of surgery - but they're not a cure all and shouldn't be a first step to overcoming hunger.

1 glass of soy milk about 15 minutes before each meal. It tricks me into feeling full.

Now if you NEVER feel full, that's a problem with a nerve in the stomach, I think it's the vagus nerve. A minor surgery can be required to fix that I'm afraid.

It takes about 20 minutes from the time you begin eating to feel full. Eat high-fiber foods, which fill you up faster. Have a salad or some soup before you begin eating--that also helps fill you up.

Also, you don't have to get full when you eat. I'll stop eating before I feel full because I've eaten all I feel like eating.
